Environmental Metagenomics (2024)
A one-week course on state-of-the-art bioinformatic approaches to analyse metagenomic data, co-taught in November 2024 for Physalia Courses.
Science Communication (Fudan University, 2019–2023)
First taught in Spring 2019, co-taught with Xiao Xiao and Deniz Vatansever.
The main goal of this course is to introduce students who are starting in their research careers to scientific communication practices and norms. The course is split into two topics, oral and written presentation.
The course consists of a mix of lectures and student-led activities (oral presentations as well as other contributions such as elevator pitches).

Introduction to Python (2011–2018)
I taught the Introduction to Python lecture (and the accompanying lab session) at several editions of the Lisbon Machine Learning School (LxMLS) between 2011 and 2018, and gave versions of it at other venues. The current version of the materials is on github; slides from individual editions are in the talks archive.
Software Carpentry (since 2012)
I am a certified Software Carpentry instructor and have taught workshops in Germany, Denmark, Cyprus, Jordan, and Spain (see the talks archive for slides).
Programming for Scientists (2009, 2012)
A course in computer programming for scientists, which I designed and taught as a semester-long course at Carnegie Mellon University in Spring 2009 (as a student-taught course); in 2012, I taught a shortened version at the Institute for Molecular Medicine (IMM) in Lisbon as a two-and-a-half day workshop.
